Icing on the cake comes at the end and therefore in this virtual paddle down Croatia’s rivers as the last one the karst beauty of the Cetina, the most famous river for an exceptional tourist experience is presented here. As a combination of adventure, sport and fun, rafting has experienced its greatest boom right here on this river. The river Cetina, surrounded by lush greenery, with several beautiful little islets, decorated with rapids and waterfalls, and in places completely peaceful, is the right place for nature lovers and justifies the epithet of the best place for rafting, both for new and old fans of this sport.
The green Dalmatian river is 104 kilometres long and its magnificent canyons, dense vegetation which adorns the banks and the hidden caves will delight you and introduce you to magical watery adventures. The activities of rafting and canoeing on this river are suitable for a wide spectrum of visitors, from children to demanding adventurers, and they are organised in three locations.
This is what the most famous and most visited trail, 11 kilometres long, looks like which starts in Penšići, and ends in the area of Radmanove Mlinice, six kilometres before the river “disappears” into the Adriatic Sea at Omiš. Rafting in Croatia was born on this section of the river, and on it for 20 years or so your skippers have been sharpening their paddles and honing their skills. A trip down this course will keep you active the whole time because you’ll want to participate in bouncing on the waves of the Cetina, whilst the river and skippers will strive to keep you alert and in a good mood. The rapids of Studenci which are created from several concentrated and many smaller sources which spring up from the foot of a steep cliff additionally spice up the beauty of the area, and they pour into the Cetina over a large waterfall. Here there is also the dangerous rapid Oblačnik, created by the backfilling of the riverbed with huge stone blocks. In this place you will get out of the boat, walk briefly around Oblačnik on the bank, whilst the skippers drop the empty rafts carefully down the rapids and wait for you a little bit downstream. Further along on the tour other surprises await you, but we will not reveal them to you so that we don’t take the joy of exploration and the sweet anticipation of superb multi-hour long adventures and fun away.
Besides rafting on the lower course, a descent from the upper courses of the Cetina where smaller rubber canoes for two to three people are used also offers you an unforgettable adventure. You will paddle down the fast river in some of the most beautiful and still undiscovered canyons of the Cetina. You will feel powerful whilst you row in your “gumi”, as rafters often called their small boats, and rush down the foamy rapids and waterfalls. Behind your back at the stern of the canoe sits the skipper who steers and takes care so that your ride passes safety and interestingly. You are not only rewarded with an exciting trip, but there is also the enjoyment of the view of the impressive rocks with their Mediterranean vegetation and the cliffs up to 100 metres high which take your breath away. The three-hour tour from Čikotina Lađa to Blato na Cetini of about 10 kilometres is suitable for everyone and will offer you the joy of “riding” over rapids, as well as a refreshing break and swimming on the green banks of the Cetina.
